According to the press service of the head of state, Kashkadarya has a significant potential in all key sectors - industry, energy, agriculture, and tourism. Since the beginning of the year, the region has attracted 2 billion dollars in investments. Employment has been provided for 565 thousand people, and 90 thousand individuals have been lifted out of poverty. It is expected that by the end of the year, the gross regional product will grow by more than 6 percent, and exports will reach 555 million dollars.
It was noted that if the region's potential is fully utilized, the outcomes would be much more substantial. The meeting discussed additional opportunities and new projects in this regard.
First and foremost, the issue of food security remains a priority. Starting next year, Kashkadarya will achieve full self-sufficiency in potatoes, fruits, poultry meat, and eggs. In this direction, 16 major projects have been formed with the participation of foreign investors.
For instance, a modern orchard covering 300 hectares will be established in the Guzar, Kamash, and Shahri Sabz districts. An additional 4 thousand tons of fruits will be grown here annually. In the Kukdalin, Chirakchin, Shahri Sabz, Kasan, and Nishan districts, organic cultivation of melons and vegetables will be expanded. The production of watermelon concentrate, shock freezing, and freeze-drying will be set up.
The region places special emphasis on the development of livestock farming. 62 thousand sheep and about 10 thousand heads of cattle will be imported from regional and European countries for breeding in cooperation with the local population and livestock farms. A livestock cluster for 1 thousand heads and a poultry farm for 1 million heads will be established in Karshi and Kamashi.
To increase the share of finished products in the cotton industry, 5 textile enterprises worth 233 million dollars will be launched. As a result, the fabric production capacity will increase by 51 percent.
It was noted that tourism is dynamically developing around the villages of Miraki in Shahri Sabz, Maydanak in Kamashi, Achinkul, and Sechankul in the Mirishkor district. An investment of 300 million dollars is planned for such facilities, with the creation of more than 200 guest houses and a thousand retail outlets.
Entrepreneurs propose to produce finished goods based on 147 non-metallic mineral deposits in the region. An investment of 209 million dollars will be allocated for this, and the deposits will be gradually auctioned.
In accordance with the President's decree, a program called "From Poverty to Prosperity" was launched on November 1, 2024. Six large enterprises in the Kashkadarya region have initiated a plan to lift more than 10 thousand citizens out of poverty next year. Additionally, it is planned to launch 86 driver projects and 33 thousand micro-projects with the participation of banks, which will provide income for another 70 thousand people. As a result, the poverty level in the region is expected to decrease from the current 8.6 to 6.5 percent.
At the meeting, the governor of the Kashkadarya region presented his plans. In particular, it is planned to attract 3.5 billion dollars in investments by 2025, increase exports to 1 billion dollars, and create 300 thousand jobs.
The head of state noted that the current indicators do not reflect the region's potential and issued instructions to enhance efficiency. The task was set to collaboratively develop additional projects worth 300 million dollars in industry, agriculture, and services with the initiators.
