The law will facilitate the expansion of activities in the fields of geology, transportation, agriculture, forestry, water management, and road infrastructure.

Uzbekistan has approved a law on space activities, reports the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

According to the information, the law established the fundamental concepts and principles of space activities, the objectives of their implementation, and the main directions of state policy in the field of space activities. Additionally, it defined the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, and its subordinate Agency for Space Research and Technology, as well as the Ministry of Defense in the area of space activities.

This is expected to help regulate the field of space activities and create legal guarantees for the execution of these activities to mitigate potential risks. Senators also emphasized that this will assist the country in effectively carrying out activities in various sectors, including land relations, geology, seismic safety, transport, agriculture, forestry, water management, and road infrastructure.

Moreover, the law addresses issues related to conducting scientific research in outer space, types of space systems, particularly Earth remote sensing, space monitoring, space communication systems, high-precision satellite navigation systems, and others. It also outlines the procedures for labeling and leasing, as well as the disposal of space objects and technical means, ensuring the safety of space infrastructure and activities, the basis for financing these activities, and matters of international cooperation.

The law places special emphasis on the exploration and utilization of outer space and Earth to achieve objectives in scientific, socio-economic, environmental, defense, security, and other areas, as well as monitoring the impact of space activities on the environment, natural resources, and public health.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would generate revenue from space activities. The country has already set its target indicators.
