Uzbekistan will focus on developing private enterprises in the IT, fintech, innovation, and telecommunications sectors, reports the president's press service.
Globally, 7 out of 10 of the most valuable companies operate in the IT and fintech sectors, highlighting the immense potential of the industry. The head of state noted the rapid growth of private enterprises in IT, fintech, innovation, and telecommunications within the country.
Uzbekistan plans to create more favorable conditions for the growth of technology companies. Specifically, it is planned to allow companies to import laboratory and technological equipment for research and development (R&D) centers. The Public Council for Supporting Entrepreneurship proposed organizing expert groups on issues related to IT, fintech, business financing, export, tourism, services, and reducing the shadow economy.
From 2021 to 2024, over 100 articles of the Customs Code have been amended in the country. However, it was emphasized that its requirements still do not align with WTO norms or the needs of entrepreneurs. In this regard, the president stressed the need for a comprehensively updated draft of the Customs Code.
It was previously reported that in 2024, the country managed to resolve a number of issues related to border posts with neighboring countries. The country plans to increase border capacity fivefold.
