On December 19, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, reports the Kremlin press service.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his heartfelt condolences regarding the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov. He stated that Uzbekistan firmly condemns this cowardly terrorist act.

The intention to continue close cooperation between the special services of the two countries in combating terrorism was emphasized. Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Vladimir Putin on the successful implementation of the Direct Line and the large press conference at the year's end. The presidents confirmed their commitment to further consistently develop mutually beneficial Russian-Uzbek relations in all areas.

The incident occurred on December 17 on Ryazansky Prospekt in Moscow. It was reported that a citizen of Uzbekistan was recruited by the Security Service of Ukraine for $100,000 and a promise of relocation to the European Union. Following their instructions, he traveled to Moscow and received a homemade explosive device.

He placed the bomb on an electric scooter, which he parked at the entrance of the residential building where Igor Kirillov lived. To monitor the general, the bomber rented a car-sharing vehicle and installed a Wi-Fi camera in it, which transmitted footage to the organizers of the attack in Dnipro.

The bomb was detonated remotely when a video signal indicated the general's exit from the building. Kirillov died in the explosion along with his assistant Ilya Polikarpov. The perpetrator of the attack was later apprehended in the village of Chernoe in the Balashikha district of the Moscow region.

It turned out that he was a 29-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan. According to the FSB of Russia, he faces punishment of up to life imprisonment. He is involved in a case concerning terrorism, murder, illegal possession of explosives or devices, and their illegal manufacture.

The detainee was taken to the investigator. During the interrogation, the Uzbek national stated that he came at the instruction of the Ukrainian special services, committing the act for money and a European passport.
