IT Park Residents of Uzbekistan Exported Services Worth $344 Million in 2023

Uzbekistan is experiencing stable progress in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). In recent years, the domestic IT sector has seen significant growth, leading to the following export achievements:

  • IT Park residents exported services worth $344 million in 2023, which is 2.4 times more than in the previous year;
  • Uzbekistan has become an attractive destination for foreign IT companies, with a 20-fold increase in their presence since 2021.

Foreign capital plays a crucial role in the growth of Uzbekistan's IT sector. The United States became the largest importer of Uzbek IT services, amounting to $150 million just last year. As a result, exports to the US rose from 63% in 2022 to 20th place among countries, demonstrating the sector's contribution to the digital ecosystem of the United States.

Outsourcing companies like EPAM Systems are key players driving the export of IT services. To expand cooperation with international partners, Uzbekistan recently showcased its capabilities at events in Dubai and New York.

The authorities are taking steps to diversify exports, focusing on the production of IT solutions and business process outsourcing (BPO). These initiatives promise further growth and the creation of new jobs.

According to Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, the success of the Central Asian country in the IT sector is the result of creating a favorable environment and attracting foreign investors, as evidenced by the growing exports and investments.
